Date: 1566-1979
History: The Cordwainers Company was established in 1566 with an ordinary dating form that year. The Company met originally in the Blackfriars and later moved to a building in the Flesh Market near St. Nicholas Church. This building was removed by order of the Corporation and a new building erected in High Bridge in 1704. The latter hall was subsequently replaced by a new hall in Nelson Street, the facade of which still stands.
