Founded in 1968 by members of Sherborne Historical Society, Sherborne Museum occupies what was once the gatehouse and almonry associated with the former Benedictine monastery. It is fully accredited and run entirely by volunteers

  • The extensive archive relates to Sherborne and the surrounding parishes, with holdings including estate papers, school records, maps and plans, pamphlets, deeds, wills and newspapers. There is also a substantial photographic and postcard collection and a reference library containing volumes of local interest
