Title: PAPERS RELATING TO THE PAGET FAMILY

Description:

The Pagets originated near Barwell and Ibstock. Though successful farmers, being associates of Robert Bakewell, the family began to prosper when Thomas Paget (1778-1862) turned to banking and politics. The family moved to Humberstone Hall and then to Lubenham, where they had acquired the manor in 1843.

There are five deposits, which make up the collection. This particular deposit is largely political. There are records kept by Thomas Tertius Paget of his victory in the election of 1867 and a scrapbook and letters of Major Guy Paget M.P. from 1922-1923, with correspondence on art and politics from 1922-1949.
