Catalogue description 'Finding Out'

Complete set, with some additional duplicates, of the 'Finding Out: A Modern Library of Education in Weekly Parts' magazine, published by Purnell & Sons Ltd (London). The magazine, written by writers and teachers, was launched in 1962 as an entertaining and educational weekly publication for children. The magazine built into a library to be stored in special binders which each held 24 issues of the magazine. Publication of the magazine continued until 1967. The first Johnstone illustration appeared in 'Finding Out' volume 2, no. 17, in February 1963, and the Johnstone twins continued to contribute illustrations to the magazine throughout its lifetime. Several stories which first appeared in 'Finding Out' went on to be published as books by Roger Lancelyn Green, illustrated by the Johnstone twins. Note is taken at file level of the stories in each issue which feature Johnstone illustrations, and which of these went on to be republished as illustrated books.
