Brigadier-General Barnett Dyer Lempriere Gray Anley joined the Manchester Regiment from the Essex Regiment at the rank of Major on July 20 1912. He became Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion at the end of January 1915. He left the Manchesters to join the Royal Lancaster Regiment on November 6 1919.
