To: Thomas Robinson 2nd Baron Grantham

From de Rayneval to Grantham, 11 December 1782

My Lord,

I believe that in reply to your diligence and to justify my own, I send the enclosed resume. I believe it to be necessary and for the best, to decide on the object of the deliberations which are going to occupy you. I am of the firm conviction that the desire to bring an end to the miseries of war will make justice and moderation prevail with His Catholic Majesty, and that the very secondary motives which could sway this Prince to maintain unacceptable demands will not be considered.

I have the honour to be, with respectful affection My Lord,

Your Excellency's very humble and very obedient servant,

de Rayneval
