Had never heard of Armetts Books. His brother, Henry, saw a paragraph in a "fugitive publication" which may be the same. Thinks they first met in the year Faraday was appointed to the RI. The following year Faraday went to Paris with Davy and was there when Napoleon returned from the Russian campaign (1812). Has never kept a diary so must rely on memory. Has never paid any attention to publications in which their names have been linked and never communicates with the press.

When asked proper questions about Faraday has answered frankly and openly and corrected misinformation. Has often been asked if he knew Faraday in early youth. Has always said that he did not know Faraday until they were both members of the Dorset Street Society to which they were introduced at different times by John Tatum.
