Title: PAPERS OF LORD RANDOLPH CHURCHILL
Description:

This collection of letters and papers of Randolph Henry Spencer Churchill, Lord Randolph Churchill, (1849 - 1895), was accessioned by the University Library in 1994. It comprises letters written to Churchill by political and personal associates, and copies of letters written by him. It covers the period 1870 - 1895, and is particularly strong in its coverage of the periods immediately preceding and following the Home Rule Bill of 1886. The correspondents include Joseph Chamberlain, the Lord Justice Gerald Fitzgibbon, Robert Arthur Talbot Gascoyne-Cecil, third Marquis of Salisbury, and Sir Henry Drummond Wolff. The letters are arranged and numbered in chronological order. An indication of the primary subject of each letter is given in the catalogue, but readers are advised that these notes are by no means comprehensive, since in most of the letters subjects are mixed too inextricably to permit full subject indexing.
