[This was compiled mainly by the Rev. Thomas Bargus, M.A., who was Vicar of Barkway and Rector of Reed, 1798-1809. Includes a report on the state of the livings of Barkway and Reed; surplice fees; population; alphabetical list of parishioners including the occupants of the poorhouse; particulars of free schools in Barkway with the name of pupils and dates of their admission and discharge; detailed list of books and papers delivered to the Rev. Thomas Bargus by his predecessor's executors; lists of persons confirmed and of children catechised; tithe rent rolls; numbers baptised, married and buried yearly in Barkway, 1538-1820, and in Reed, 1538-1817; names of recipients of charity money and cheap coal; population and crop returns, 1801; purchase of land tax; land allotted in lieu of tithes, 1801; detailed accounts of Thomas Bargus' expenditure on repairs and alterations to Barkway parsonage house and grounds; necessary expenditure and accounts of Mr Bargus and succeeding incumbents, 1803-1825.
