Folios 275-277. To: The Local Government Act Office. From: Butler and Smith, Leeds, [Yorkshire]. A letter informing the Office that a private company is intended to be formed in Idle for the supply of water to that District. Once this goal is achieved the Company is then intended to be sold to the Idle Local Board, for which the latter body will need to borrow money for the purchase of the company. Butler and Smith ask whether the Home Secretary would be likely to sanction loans for such an end. |
