Marriage Settlement: (i) Robert Markham of Cottham esq. (ii) Dame Mary Warburton (widow of Sir John Warburton) (iii) Sir Francis Leeke, Peter Warburton of Arley, co. Chester, Thomas Markeham and Henry Maynwaringe of Carrinchum, co. Chester: on marriage of Robert, son and heir of R.M., and Anne, a daughter of Dame M.W.-- manors of Cotteham, Great Markham, Shelton, Stoke near Newark, Maplebecke and of Cleypoole, co. Lincs., with all property of R.M. in those places and the advowsons of Claypoole, Cotham and Shelton --: Manor of and property in Claypoole to R.M. the father, and his wife Mary for their lives, then to R.M., the son and heirs male of his body, then to heirs male of R.M. the father. Manors or and property in Stoke near Newark and Great Markham (except 50ac. meadow in Stoke lying near Cotham occupied by the Inhabitants of Cotham) to the use of R.M. the son and A.W. and the heirs male of their bodies, then to R.M. the father and the heirs male of his body, then to right heirs of R.M. the father. Manor of and property in Maplebecke to R.M. the father for life, then to R.M. the son and A.W. and their heirs male, then to heirs male of R.M. the father, then to right hairs of R.M. the father. Which premises in Stoke, Great Markham and Maplebecke limited to the use of A.W. are for her jointure. Manors of and property in Cottham and Shelton and 50ac. meadow in Stoke as above to R.M. the father for life, then to R.M. the son and heirs male of his body, then to heirs male of R.M. the father, then to right heirs of R.M. the father. Provision for R.M. the father to raise up to £100 yearly from the manor of Claypoole in case he survive his present wife Mary and remarry. Provision for R.M. the father to appoint the manor of and property in Shelton to the use of his younger sons and their wives, for life. Provision for R.M. the father to appoint his mansion house of Maplebeck to the use of his wife Mary for her life after his death, subject to the yearly rent of £40 to R.M. the son and A.W. Recites grant by R.M. the father to Thomas Sadler esq. of an annuity of £100 out of the manor of Cotham for 10 years. Provision for the payment thereafter, and after the death of R.M. the father, of £100 a year to Mary, Anne, Isabel and Catherine Markham, daughters of R.M. the father, if they shall then remain unmarried until they have each received £200. Provisions for lease by R.M. the father of any of the premises (except property in Stoke, Great Markham and Maplebeck) for term of his life. R.M. the father to maintain R.M. the son, A.W. and their children, providing and keeping for them, one servant woman and two servant men; and keeping for R.M. the son 3 geldings. If R.M. and A.W., after 5 years and 6 months, prefer to keep house for themselves, R.M. the father to demise to them farm in Claypool at £5.15s. rent. If R.M. the son die before R.M. the father leaving sons by A.W., R.M. the father to grant to such sons (other than the heir apparent) an annuity of £10 for life out of the manor of Cotham; and if any daughter be similarly left, R.M. the father to pay each of them £100 as their marriage portion.
