Abstract of Title of Mr William Varty to freehold fields called Pategill, Far Barco, Little and Great Scaw; covers 1756-1814; including his Will (proved at Carlisle 1814); with Opinions at end, of William Lee (Lincoln's Inn, 3 June 1829) and W Jones (Crosby Square, 4 June 1829), 1829

 

Bargain and sale for £1082. 10s. 0d. (William Varty of Bishopsgate Street in the City of London linen-draper and Ann his wife to John Cowper of Carleton Hall Esq., with Frederick Cowper of St. Paul's Church Yard, City, Manchester Warehousemen; with the following Vartys also: Jonathan Varty of Liverpool coachbuilder, William Newby Varty of Bishopsgate Street linen-draper and Mary Ann his wife; and with the following Boyds: Thomas Boyd of Hackney in Middx. and of Skinner Street, Snow Hill, City, Manchester Warehousemen and Grace his wife, William Clark Boyd of Skinner Street do., Sarah Boyd of Hackney spinster, Esther do. do., John Boyd of Skinner Street, Manchester Warehouseman, Christopher Boyd of do. do., and Elizabeth, Hannah Louisa, and Jane Boyd all of Hackney, spinsters (Hannah Louisa and Jane are not yet 21 years old); also with Henry Hartly of "Stagg Stones" near Penrith gent., and John Simpson of Newcastle under Lyme, Staffs., gent., and Ann his wife) - recital begins with the Will of William Varty of Penrith husbandman (probate at Carlisle 1814), and that the foregoing parties are all part of his family - conveys the fields called Varty's Pategill, Varty's Far Barco, Varty's Little Scaw, Varty's Great Scaw; total 9¼ acres; occupiers, the said John Cowper, William Little, William Roper; with all hedges, mounds, common of pasture; signed by all the parties; 25 July 1829
