Description:

Bequests include:- to brother Marcellus, messuages, dwellinghouses, workshops, yards, sheds, foundry etc., lately purchased of John Wakefield esq. deceased, at the Lound, and all other real estate at the Lound, charged with £1,500 to be paid to executors; also closes of land with buildings thereon, at Grange, Lancashire, charged with payment of £3,500 to executors; also two small fields near Burneside, and inclosure and plantation, formerly part of Ewefold estate; also all other real estate in Grasmere

 

- To brother Robert, messuages and lands near Birthwaite, Windermere, and all other real estate there, charged with payment of £1000 to executors; also farm and hotel in Langdale, chargeable with payment of £1,500 to executors

 

- To brother John, messuage in Highgate, Kendal with yard, cottages and buildings behind, formerly property of Richard Greenhow deceased, chargeable with payment of £800 to executors

 

- To nephew John, eldest son of brother Marcellus, dwelling houses situate near Church gates, Kirkland, formerly property of late father John Thompson; also dwelling house, now used as office in Lowther Street, Kendal

 

- To niece, Elizabeth, eldest daughter of brother Marcellus, front dwellinghouses, situate near Abbot Hall gates with the yard, outhouses and cottages therein situate, formerly property of Isaac Wilson, deceased

 

- To brother Robert, dwellinghouses in Stramongate, formerly property of Richard Rawes [as in conveyance 17 February 1829]; also messuages with yard and outbuildings and all other real estate at Burton-in-Kendal

 

- To nephew Miles, son of brother Robert, messuages, yards etc. near Stramongate Bridge and on north side of River Kent, formerly property of Richard Rawes, deceased

 

- To Joseph King of Bradford, Yorkshire, mechanic, husband of late sister Elizabeth, cottages on Fellside, Kendal

 

- To nephews John, son of Marcellus, and Marcellus son of Robert, parcel of ground in Beezon Fields, Kendal, purchased from Kendal and Windermere Railway Company, as tenants in common

 

- To niece Jane Stockdale, surviving daughter of his eldest sister Agnes Strickland Atkinson, front dwellinghouse and shop situate at foot of Collin Croft, with cottage in Collin Croft adjoining shop, for life then to her only son

 

- To housekeeper and niece, Elizabeth Thompson, bookcase and books

 

Executors: friend Hugh Langhorn of Kendal, gent and brother Marcellus and Robert
