By way of Settlement by RICHARD AYLING, senior of Stedham, yeoman, and RICHARD AYLING, junior, yeoman, his only son and heir (1), MARY PENICOD of Heyshott, spinster, Daughter of Elizabeth Penicod, widow (2) and WILLIAM FRY of Stedham, yeoman, and JOHN PENICOD of Heyshott, yeoman, brother of the said Mary (3) - in consideration of an intended marriage between the said Richard Ayling, junior and the said Mary Penicod - of a messuage, tenement or dwellinghouse, 2 barns, one garden and orchard belonging and lands as follows:- A close called Dodgers, 2 ac.; Northfield, 7 ac.; 2 closes adjoining Northfield, 2 ac.; 2 closes called Wakelins, 3 ac.; Gastons close, 3 ac.; Bone Croft, 5 ac.; Holt Croft, 3 ac.; the Garden close, 2 ac.; and one little Purrock called Coate, ½ ac.; 2 closes with the hanger called the East fields, 4 ac. 3 r.; the Holt Close, 2 ac. 1½ r All in East Harting, theretofore in the occupation of Robert Russell and then in the several occupations of Richard Ayling, senior and Richard Cobb Signatures of all parties and seals Witnesses:- Tho.
