Alithea Allanson [née Clavering, an aunt]: letters contain family news, comment on current affairs, also a letter from Com. Cornwall to Mrs Allanson, rejoicing on the accession of George I and Lord Cowper's return to office; and a letter from Dr Lloyd of Worcester concerning his disappointment at not getting Deanery of Worcester, 28 March 1715. 13 items, 1708-1719.

 

Ann Clavering [unidentifiable relative, letter written from Gawthorpe Hall, Lancs.]: congratulations on Lord Cowper being reinstated as Lord Chancellor. 1 item, 1 Nov 1714

There seems to have been some disagreement between them on Margaret's ingratitude for her upbringing by Ann. 5 items, c 1718

 

Robert Clavering [a distant relative, Professor of Hebrew at Oxford, and Bishop of Llandaff]: letters to 1st Earl and Lady Cowper, mainly concerning preferment and solicitations. 7 items, 1708-1722

Grace, Lady Wood [nee Clavering, widow of Sir Thomas, Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, and great aunt and ? guardian of Lady Cowper before her marriage]: two letters from Orlando Bridgeman, July and August 1702, to Lady Wood, expressing warmth of his feelings for Miss Clavering; letter from his father, D Bridgeman, stating that he has heard that his son has made an offer for Miss Clavering, and reminding her that he cannot marry without "a considerable sum", August 1702; note refusing an offer made by Dr Lloyd for Miss Clavering; and anonymous letter to Lady Wood stating that William Cowper was unsuitable for Miss Clavering to know as he was a libertine, 2 August [1705]. 5 items, c 1702-5.
