CAMELEY deeds

 

A similar group of deeds and leases, generally involving the same families, but carrying the endorsement 'Clowde' [although not all the deeds make this specific distinction]; refs. to South and North Fields and Haywood, as in DD/HI/A/47

 

Deed of 1366 is of mess. called la Cloude and deed of 1374 refers to manors of Cloud and Haywood

 

The earliest undated deed is a grant by Adam de Alneto, son of Alexander de Alneto to Hugh son of Elias (Adam's uncle) of all his land 'de Cluda' which Anketil de Chiwton held on the day he died, ?c.1200; the bundle also includes an inspeximus of this, dated 1263, by Sir Alexander de Alneto, son of Godfrey de A. who was nephew of the above Adam.

 

Copy settlement on marriage of his dau. Isabella, by Everard le Franceis, n.d., prob. 1274 (Dated by Mayor of Bristol named as witness)
