Copies of a report from the Devizes Gazette about a duel between Phipps and Starkey, which arose from a quarrel over poaching by one of Phipps's labourers, and of a letter from Captain Hardman to Thomas Henry Hele Phipps describing the affair. Also a letter from Hardman to John Benett M.P. of Pythouse, giving a further account. It is not clear which Phipps was involved except that he was a brother of T.H.H. Phipps. Hardman was Phipps's second.
