Property as Thor 2/3/2.

 

Consideration and conditions: the marriage of William Thorold the younger and Mary, daughter of John Dancastell of Bynfield, co. Berks., esq., £12,000 marriage portion paid by John Dancastell.

 

The trustees to pay £150 (revised by endorsement to £200) a year to Mary after her husband's death and to pay £120 a year to William Thorold the younger and Mary for maintenance as long as W.T. senior lived.

 

The trustees to raise £30,000 to pay portions to 3 daughters if William Thorold the younger has no son.

 

Permissive power to sell this property and buy manors etc. nearer at hand, the income to be put to the same uses.

 

Endorsements: increasing the jointure to £200, with witnesses.

 

Witness under oath to the original document being sealed by Smith, Pleydell and Knight by John Ayling, one of the original witnesses.

 

10th September, 1656.

 

Further certification as a true copy by Robert and John Smeaton, John Eyston and John Dancastell, junior. 25th January, 1659/60.
