Surveyd in the year of our Lord 1652 together with a Farm lying on the North part of the Manour which have been severall particulers as Benbrook Webs Bexfield Elmers Hill Land Hedgers and Roaden both Taken by Thomas Ayling for Thomas Grey Esquire

 

And now redrawn into one draught for the Right Worshipfull Sir John Mill Baronet By Mee Nicholas Ayling

518a. in the centre of Woolbeding and 384a. in Linch (formerly Woolbeding). Field-names and acreages in two tables flanking the map. Woolbeding House shown in perspective view; other buildings in elevation

 

Pasture indicated by shading; woodland by tree-symbols

 

Roads and footpaths; bridges and streams. Names of adjacent properties. Some later pencil additions, mostly field-names. Finely drawn compass of thirty-two points in red and black. Title in a delicately executed cartouche in Jacobean sytle, symmetrical on both axes. Scale of chains surmounted by dividers. (The border of the map is also divided in chains.) Elaborate border of fine quality consisting of rectangular panels of grapes, strawberries, daisies, violets, roses, dianthus and tulips
