Thompson Memorial Hall was founded in 1898 and located in Dundas Street, Sunderland, named after the shipbuilder JL Thompson. Formerly Free Methodist, and from 1907 United Methodist. Until 1933 it was on Thompson Memorial Hall United Methodist Circuit, and then Sunderland North Circuit [MC/SU1]. From 1966 it was known as Monkwearmouth Methodist Church at Thompson Memorial Hall. The church closed in 1980 and the building became the Chinese True Jesus Church. |
