Reheat development testing of system for F23/49 aircraft to be continued using flight fuel system, F3/48 reheat system also to be tested. Flying test beds: AST Lancastrian VM.733; Handley Page Hastings TE.583 awaiting disposal to Handley Page; Gloster Meteor WA.820 under investigation on the safety factor of the wing spar by Gloster; Canberra WD.933 Canberra (2nd aircraft) due at Armstrong Siddeley Motors August 1952 & requires 4 Sa.4 engines. Prototype aircraft: Gloster F4/48 (twin) airframe troubles; flown up to 40,000 ft and rolled without any major troubles. Gloster T118D (twin) due March 1953; Handley Page B35/46; first engine due April 1952; Hawker F3/48; English Electric F23/49 (twin) delivery of first two flight engines February 1953. Adder: Total of 1468 hours running time; test position Adders A.12 and A.13 rejected on 2 hour test due to bad handling. Viper: Total 152 hours running time to date.Viper engine V.4 accepted. Acceptance test on engine V.5 successful. Double Mamba: Total of 4518 running hours to date.
