Administrative / biographical background: |
The following represent a very small selection of the plans: approx 1%. The remainder have been destroyed, though Preston City Council have microfiche of the whole series not available to the public. The aim of the selection has been to keep a few examples of all types of application, large and small, and also layout plans of housing estates, unless fairly small. In most cases the paperwork accompanying the selected plans eg correspondence, forms, calculations has not been preserved. The architect is given in italics and brackets; all are from Preston unless otherwise stated. The plans were deposited at various times between 1989 and 2000 accession nos 6591, 7766, 8045, 8089, 8175, 8283, 8345, 8434, 8494, 8635, 8705 and 8807. The dates of the plans are 1974-97. The new ie. post-1974 Preston Borough Council numbered their building control plans from 1 to 14070, starting in April 1974 and finishing at the end of 1985. From 1986 a new series was started, incorporating the year in the number, eg: LAU 6/4/86/555, 87/103 etc |
