The records are of the firm of Holman's whose boiler works at Pool and foundry at Camborne date back to 1801 and 1839 respectively, the boiler works being transferred from Pool to Roskear in 1892. Rock tools and pneumatic tools began to be manufactured on a large scale after the First World War. See Bernard Hollowood, Cornish Engineers. Published for private circulation by Holman Bros. Ltd. 1951. (The 150th anniversary of the firm of Holman which began with the boiler works at Pool, established by Nicholas Holman in 1801).
