The majority of these records - mainly photographs and commemorative material - relate to Margaret Beavan's period as Lord Mayor of Liverpool (1927/28): she was the first woman to hold this position.

 

Her extensive charitable actitivies, mainly concerned with children (and in particular with the Child Welfare Association) are also documented within the records of that organisation (MRO ref 364CWA).

 

Margart Beavan died in 1931 at the age of 54: her many political and charitable achievements are outlined in the volume of obituary notices, M920MBE/9, below.
