Coopers Road - 1 index card, 3 photographs, 1981: these prints are all by Birmingham City Engineer's Department and relate to planning application PA 2705/5 for 39 Coopers Road. These were taken in March 1981 and show Birmingham Co-operative Society [BCS] stores. They are numbered (4) X39574 (6) X39576 (7) X39577.

Cope Street - 1 index card, 7 photographs, 1957 - 1966:
07/08/1957: Five prints are by Birmingham City Engineer & surevyor - three show premises of Britachrome Co Ltd at the junction of Cope Street with Stour Street. Visible is a vacancies board with separate headings for women and men. These are all referenced RD 35-4 and annotated '11'. [Note: this image has been selected by Claire Reece, GRAIN Intern 2013-15 for use in an arts project.]
Two are additionally stamped Planning & Redevelopment PR section order number 12 whilst the third print is stamped R.D. office copy and Redevelopment Section. All three copies are printed on Ilford paper. The other two prints dated 07/08/1957 are also printed on Ilford paper and are referenced RD 35-5 and annotated '8' and '5'. They both show a view of the yard and factory of Britachrome Ltd along Cope Street towards Stour Street. Visible on the corner of Stour Street is an advertising hoarding for 'cherry Blossom' shoe polish.
26/11/1964: 'Railway Shed, Cope St' [believed to be the former timber yard of D.T. Powell & Co]. This print is by Public Works Department and is referenced TP 7887 and annotated '13'.
01/07/1966: 'Cope St, Britachrome'. It is by Public Works Department and shows a yard and factory. It is referenced TP9145 and annotated '14'.

Copeley Street, South Aston - 1 index card, 2 photographs, 1969: Both prints are by the Public Works Department and show derelict terraced houses. '2-18 Copeley Street, Unit 1517' 'is referenced NORD10491 and anootated '1' and '80'. '15-5 Copeley Street' is referenced NORD10454 and annotated '2' and '41'.

Undated but 1950s: 2 prints on Ilford paper by the City Engineer & Surveyor, both with reference PA 10294/2. Both show Pearse Service Station and car park, with a sign for Regent petrol. One view shows Spicers Ltd on the corner of Cornwall Street and Livery Street. The Livery Street entrance to Snow Hill Station is visible. A number of vehicles are shown, including a Ford [registration FOR 484] and an Austin van in Dunlop livery [registration NOG 864]. The other view shows the rear of the Dunlop van and along Cornwall Street to the Old Royal pub on the corner with Church Street.

A sign for Hassall & co is visible and a hoarding shows advertisements for 'Palethorpes Pork Pies and Sausages' and the British Legion Poppy appeal, featuring Twiggy. A Ford Anglia is shown [registration 524 HOV].

05/01/1959: 'Singer Motor Co., Coventry Road' a print on Ilford paper by City Engineer & Surveyor. It is annotated '93' and '3'. A low rise building is shown with a sign 'Rootes Motors (Parts) Ltd. The multi storey factory behind has signs for Rootes and constituent car brands and these signs are all marked with red ticks.
05/03/1959: '550A Coventry Road' a print on Ilford paper by City Engineer & Surveyor. It is referenced '3493' and annotated '94' and '2'. The sign for the 'Empire Wine & Spirit Store' is marked in red ink. This shop is part of the Blenheim Buildings. Other shops in this complext include 'London Modes', 'Douglas Radio & Television Maintenance' and 'Scott Music & Radio'. The entrance to 'Blenheim Works' is also shown. A Morris Minor based van [registration NOA 758] is shown in the livery of 'Sweeney Radio Ltd'.

A sign on the building 'Bristol Street House' is annotated 'appeal advertisment'. Building contractors are working on a pipe trench in the street as it crosses the building's entrance driveway.
