6 October 1782. Likewise Edward Rowlands and Robert Prichard. Witnesses: Evan Ellis, rector, minister of the pa. of Llanfair near Harlech, Robert Roberts and David Humphrey, churchwardens of the same, Robert Samuel and Lewis Evan.

 

WRITS: Venire: At Bala, 19 July 1782. Directed to the sheriff to bring John Davies late of the pa. of Talyllyn, yeoman, before the J.P.'s on 'Saturday next ensuing' (20 July 1782) to answer concerning on assault and other offences. Tested by Roger Jones, esq., and Francis Parry, clerk, J.P.'s

 

At the Foot: on an indictment found at this Quarter Sessions,

 

Capias: At Bala, 20 July 1782. Directed to the sheriff to take the above-named John Davies and have him before the J.P.'s on the first day of the next G.Q.S. to answer as above. Tested as above.

 

At the Foot: Upon a venire returned this Quarter Sessions.

 

End: Humphrey William, prosecutor and witness, William Williams, gent., witness, assaulting the said prosecutor, a constable in the execution of his office.

 

Return: I have taken the with-in named John Davies as by the within writ I am commanded. William Humffreys, esq., sheriff.

 

PRESENTMENTS (Returns: 1st True Bill; remainder: True presentment): That Hugh Thomas late of the pa. of Llandderfel, yeoman, on 1 August 1782 at the said pa. made an assault on David Roberts, farmer.

The inhabitants of Merioneth should repair the bridge over the river Dee called Cynwyd Bridge, pa. of Gwyddelwern, leading from Llanrwst co. Denbigh, to the 'village of Llandrillo'. Witnesses: Thomas Jones high constable and John David Mason.

 

The inhabitants of the township of Cefn y Post should repair a quarter of a mile of highway in the said township, pa. of Llanfihangel, leading from the village of Llanfihangel to the highway leading from Ruthin to Cerrig drudion, co. Denbigh, Witness: John Davies.

 

At the Foot: 21 December 1782. Then granted out a distringas.

 

The inhabitants of the township of Dolgledar, pa. of Dolgelley (Dolgellau), should repair a road in the said township from Pandy'r odyn, pa. aforesaid to Erw goed, pa. aforesaid, in the highway leading from Dolgelley (Dolgellau) to Towyn 'through Llangelynin'. Witnesses: Owen Meredith, Robert Owen, and William Williams. 'Prosecutor': Owen Meredith and David Griffith

RECOGNISANCES: 14 August 1782. Sureties: Hugh Thomas of Tyn-y-coed, pa. of Llandderfel, farmer, £20, Robert Roberts of Derwcoed, pa. aforesaid, junior, Robert Thomas of Brynbwlen, pa. aforesaid farmer, £10 each. Taken before Maurice Lloyd, esq., for the said Hugh Thomas to appear at the next G.Q.S. to answer an idictment preferred against him by David Roberts of Tyn-y-llechwedd, pa. aforesaid, farmer, for assaulting and beating him.

19 September 1782. Sureties: John Roberts of Bronn y Mannod, pa. of Ffestiniog, yeoman, £20, Humphrey William of Cae'r blaidd, pa. aforesaid, yeoman, and Owen William of Cae Iago, pa. of Maentwrog, yeoman, £10 each. Taken before John Vaughan Garnons, clerk, for Elizabeth the wife of the said John Roberts of Bronn y Mannod to appear at the next G.Q.S. to abide by the court's decision and to keep the peace meanwhile especially towards Catherine Richard of Bronn y Mannod, spinster.

30 September 1782. Sureties: Thomas Robert of Bryn-mawr, pa. of Dolgelley (Dolgellau), yeoman, £20, Rice Price of the town of Dolgelley (Dolgellau), grocer, and William Jones of the same, weaver, £10 each. Taken before Francis Parry, clerk, for the said Thomas Robert to appear at the next G.Q.S. to abide by the court's decision and to keep the peace meanwhile especially towards Margaret Evans wife of Robert William of Coedcroes, pa. of Dolgelley (Dolgellau), yeoman.

Warrant to the Churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the pa. of Dolgelley (Dolgellau) to convey Elizabeth Rees widow of Richard Rowland, late of the town of Dolgelley (Dolgellau), and Anne their daughter who had come to live in the said pa. without gaining a legal settlement there and who were chargeable to the said pa., - to convey then to the pa. of Machynlleth, co. Montgomery, which was adjudged by the undermentioned J.P.'s to be their last place of legal settlement, the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said pa. of Machynlleth to receive and provide for them as inhabitants of their parish. As we think him a proper person, request you will present our compliments to the gentlemen who attend at the Quarter and mention it as our request that he may continued (sic) in his place.
