The school comprised a Girls & Infants Departments; in March 1929 the school was closed & staff & pupils were transferred to Astor Avenue. In September 1939 it opened as a Senior (over 11) Girls School. No entries were made from June 1940 until August 1945. Temporary logbooks were kept during this period when many children were evacuated from Dover. The school ceased to operate as a Girls School in 1948, and became a Secondary Modern thereafter. C/ES/12/22/2 is a temporary logbook kept during the evacuation to Monmouthshire. At the back of the volume are accounts of needlework money 1940 - 1943 During the war period the school re-opened after a closure period of sixteen and a half months and received both boys and girls. The Boy's Dept. closed in January 1942 but an Infants Department was included until August 1945. At the back of the volume C/ES/121/22/3 is a list of pupils admitted to the School 1944 - 1945 |
