Indenture tripartite whereby, after recital of indentures of 17 December 13 Elizabeth [1570] and 10 February 13 Elizabeth [1571] William Clopton of Clopton, esq., in consideration of £900 paid by George Carewe of St. Giles in the Fields, co. Middx., and of his marriage already had with Joyce one of the daughters and heirs apparent of the said William Clopton, enfeoffs John Harvie of Ickworth, co. Suffolk, esq. and Henry Griffith of Whitchever [Wichnor] co. Staff., esq., in the manors of Bridgetowne and Ryen Clyfford and all his lands, etc. in Bridgetowne, Ryen Clifford and Stratford-upon-Avon (the manors, etc. of Clopton and Ingon, alias Ington, excepted) to hold the same to the use of him the said William Clopton for his life and at his decease, if he have male issue living, to the use of the said George Carewe for 60 years (if any such issue male so long shall live), paying yearly to all and every such issue £60; this term of 60 years being ended, then to the use of the heirs of the body of William Clopton in tail male, and in default to the use of George Carewe and Joyce his wife and the heirs of their bodies, and in default to the use of the right heirs of the said Joyce; with various other provisos and limitations.
