Reference:SC 8/287/14303
Description:
Petitioners: Merchants of Abbeville.
Addressees: King.
Occupation: Merchants of Abbeville
Nature of request: [This petition is hard to read] The merchants of Abbeville state that their goods have been arrested at Newcastle upon Tyne, at the king's command, as they are given to understand, but they do not know why. They request a remedy and justice, for God and for the soul of the queen. There follows a list of the goods taken.
Nature of endorsement: Coram rege. The lord King has spoken his will concerning the contents of the petition to the Chancellor; therefore they are to go to the Chancellor, and he will do as he has been ordered etc.
