1 collective petition (7 people, including John Rawlings and Mary Rawlings, the prisoner's parents, Susan Rawlings the prisoner's wife and the prosecutor) on behalf of John Rawlings, farmer of Crawford, Bedfordshire, convicted at the Lent Bedford Assizes held in 1824 for stealing sheep, property of --- Robinson, farmer. Grounds for clemency: the prisoner is of previous good character, has a wife and children are dependent on him and he has shown contrition. Initial sentence: death, commuted to transportation for life. Annotated: 'reprieved' and '30 Apl [April] 1824, nil'. Fk31 |
