"Photograph of Mr John Stainer of Solent View Binstead I of W seated." Mr Stainer wears the Naval General Service Medal for action 1793-1840, with the Navarino 1827 bar, issued in 1847. Stainer was the last survivor of Navarino and died aged 99 in March 1907. For his service record, see: ADM 29/52/142 Copyright owner and author of work: George St John-Biggs, 26 West Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight. Form completed 10 October 1906. Registration stamp: 11 October 1906. A postcard confirming Stainer's christian name is attached to the registration form. |
