Arrangement:

For about five years after the introduction of legacy duty under the Legacy Duty Act 1796, the accounts are in a variety of forms. Thereafter standard forms were introduced, subdividing the estate under broad headings. The accounts are arranged in account number order. These account numbers with relevant year, are found in many corresponding death duty register (IR 26) entries. For example R A /1448-1837.
