Title: Central Office of Information and Predecessors: Film Production Documents
Description:

Documents concerned with the making of films by the GPO Film Unit, 1933 to 1939, the Crown Film Unit, the Colonial Film Unit, the RAF Film Unit, and with films made commercially under the auspices of the Ministry of Information and Central Office of Information. The films include those made for 'British Calendar' film magazine and television, and commercial fillers.

The documents extant for the early years are rather sparse but the folders for later years include the following items:

  • commissioning letters signed by the writer or contractor concerned
  • offer and acceptance of contract
  • music licence
  • music cue sheet
  • commentary
  • shot list
  • shooting script
  • notification of completion
  • contracts
  • agreements
  • compliance with conditions of contract form

The documents in these series were removed for departmental administrative purposes from files in INF 12
