Commissioner Brown to the Board. Reports the Pembroke is lying on her side in six fathoms of water in the Kithole. Two hundred men were aboard and the casualties were, the 1st Lieutenant, Surgeon, the Carpenter, several of the sailors;' wives, Mr Powlett the Chaplain of the Royal Sovereign and his wife and the 3rd Lieutenant's wife, Mrs Hanbury. The rest have been taken ashore by the ship's boats. Arrangements have been made to scuttle the ship so she can get upright. Enclosure |
