Description:

Acknowledges receipt of letters, including a circular, accompanied by a resolution of the House of Commons of 6 April 1797, respecting enslaved persons on plantations of the British West Indies, and will take the earliest opportunity of communicating the resolution to the Council and Assembly, and at the same time recommend they particularly consider the formation of such a system of measures suitable to the attainment of the objects specified, and will report to the Secretary of State on proceeds of the Legislature with respect to resolution; refers to discussions in the Assembly and a bill for the 'better protection of the Slaves'.
