(3) MS tracing of a plan of the area north of Saint Nicholas's rock, with information about the fighting [between the Turks and the Bulgarians and their allies]. (4-6) 3 MS sketch maps, on tracing paper, showing the terrain and key positions; these seem to note corrections to item 7. (7) 'General attack on the Russian positions in the Shipka Pass, August 24, showing both sides of the Turkish advance': printed sketch map, cut from an Extra Supplement to the Illustrated London News, 29 September 1877. Sheet sizes between 17 cm x 30 cm and 39 cm x 37 cm. Items 4-6 originally accompanying despatch number 30 from Captain J L Fife, Military Attache, Constantinople (now Istanbul), to A H Layard, 26 November 1877.
