Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on Susannah Bray, convicted of stealing a linen sheet from furnished lodgings. Evidences supplied by John Raynes and Charles Elliott. Elliot, 'an officer' found the prisoner had pinned the sheet to her petticoat 'in a long bundle almost down to her heels'. Her only defence witness was woman who kept a clothes shop. Recommendation: no mercy. |
