Prince de Salm to Marlborough: the defeat in Italy is limited to 1,300 prisoners. The Prussians are said to have suffered the most. The absence of Prince Eugene, who remained too long in Vienna, was unfortunate. The emperor [Joseph I] should exercise more control over his generals, particularly the prince of Baden. Intractability of the king of Prussia, who has still not sent his troops to the upper Rhine, despite the payment of the imperial subsidy. He urges Marlborough to concentrate on the upper Moselle.
