Title: Foreign Office: Consulate and Legation, Greece (formerly Ottoman Empire): General Correspondence
Description:

This series contains general correspondence from the British legation and consulates in Greece.

Date: 1813-1973
Arrangement:

Arranged largely by date. The arrangement within each year varies.

  • FO 286/1-630 (up to October 1917): papers bound in volumes differentiated according to provenance, e.g. To Consuls, From Greek Government, etc.
  • FO 286/631-717 (1917-1919): files arranged in file number order and bound into volumes; a single sequence of item numbers applies across this range of pieces.
  • FO 286/718-1084 (1920-1929): files grouped under subject letters or (from 1923) letters and numbers and bound into volumes; when these records were originally listed, only selected files were described individually.
