Description:

Folio 78. Stepney to Col. O'Rourke, prisoner at 'Esseck' [i.e. Eszek, Croatia, formerly in Hungary, now in Jugoslavia [Yugoslavia]]. In reply to his letter of Feb 16, promises speedy intercession with prince Philip of Hessen for his and his brother's release from imprisonment. The prince had already promised to cause his release to be expedited: this and Rycaut's intercession should make his solicitation easy. PS.: Has received from Mme Bellamount the letter O'Rourke had had from viscount Galloway and delivered it to prince Philip who promised instantaneous help.
