Prostitution: survey of police procedure in Edinburgh and Glasgow, 1958; social effects of the Street Offences Act 1959; correspondence with Josephine Butler Society, formerly Association for Moral and Social Hygiene. Contains reports from Chief Superintendents detailing the effects in their districts of the 1959 Street Offences Act, following a report in the News of the World that the legislation had driven the problems associated with prostitution out of the reach of the police and social workers. Also contains reports of a visit by senior English police officers to Edinburgh and Glasgow to learn how the police forces of those cities dealt with street prostitution, and to examine the differences between Scottish and English legislation. |
