2 items extracted from WO 181/201. 'Africa 1:2,000,000': Two maps formed as follows: (1) parts of ['Upper Congo' and 'Zanzibar'] joined, together covering the area around Lake Mweru (now in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo). (2) 'Rhodesia': a complete sheet, covering the area between Munhango (now in Angola), Lake Bangweulu (now in Zambia), Gwelo (now Gweru, Zimbabwe) and Grootfontein (now in Namibia). Reference tables to both items; indexes to boundaries, adjoining sheets, levels of accuracy and authorities used in compiling the map appear on item (2). Compiled, drawn and originally published by the War Office 1919; second edition heliographed by the Ordnance Survey and published by the War Office: (1) 1927, (2) 1933. MS additions, coloured, to both items showing suggested transfers of land between the Belgian Congo and [British-controlled] Northern Rhodesia (1) between Lake Mweru and Lake Mweru Wantipa; (2) to the east of Ndola. |
