Various reference notes, many of a historical nature. Decorated with coats of arms, historical portraits and views, etc. Compass points or compass indicator to each map. The map of Kent by P Lee. The remaining maps are taken from John Speed's 'Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain', sold by Thomas Basset and Richard Chiswell; many sheets are based on earlier maps by John Norden or Christopher Saxton, some sheets are engraved by Jodocus Hondius, and some are corrected by Christopher Browne. Several sheets bear the date 1610; Carmarthenshire, Dorset, Essex and Huntingdonshire are dated 1662. This edition, with roads added to the plates, printed and sold by Henry Overton, White Horse without Newgate, London, [?1710 or 1713]. Insets: maps and views of cities and county towns, many with reference tables to notable buildings, appear on most sheets. Each map is endorsed with the stamp of the Board of Ordnance.
