Details of BT 110
Reference: BT 110
Title: Registry of Shipping and Seamen: Transcripts and Transactions, Series IV, Closed Registries
Description:

Duplicates of all forms entered, relating to the registry and ownership of ships removed from the British Register kept by the Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen.

A selected record within this series (BT 110/426/2) is available to download as digital microfilm.

Date: 1890-1998
Arrangement:

From 1890 the transcripts and transactions ceased to be bound and were filed under the year in which the registry was closed.

As registries may be re-opened, for example when a ship is bought back from foreign ownership, papers are liable to temporary withdrawal and re-filing at a later date.

No explanation has been found as to why there are no transcripts for ships registries which both opened and closed within the year 1890.
