Description:
Registry Number: CCG 180/2304. Twenty-three pictures.Correspondence between the Czechoslovak Reparations, Deliveries and Restitutions Division [RDR] Mission in the British zone of Germany, the North Rhine Westphalia RDR branch and its headquarters regarding the investigation in August 1948 of twenty-three pictures declared under General Order No 6 by Mr M Hillenblink [resident in Kohlscheid bei Aachen] and presumably purchased from Mrs Aloisie Sálek, Prague. The pictures are listed in a copy of a receipt provided by the current owner listing all the pictures bought in Prague in May 1942, as testified by further correspondence between the RDR and the German Restitution Office of the North Rhine Westphalian Finance Ministry dated September 1948. The pictures listed include twelve paintings: 'Alpenlandschaft' by W Thamm, 'Waldbach' by J Hurt, 'Winter' by J Hurt, 'Herbst' by K Schadt, 'Gladiolen' by V Vovsovi, 'Ernte' by K Rombald, 'Stilleben' by V Pirker, 'Sonn. Wald' [as written] by Artés, 'Flussland' by F D Sedládcek, 'Stilleben' by Kliment, 'Araberinnen' by J Svoboda, and 'Juhas' [not specified]. [the list also includes their value and size];two art prints: 'Madonna' by Dej [later typed Oej], and 'Cows' by Brendel; five etchings: '4xPrag' [as written] by J Vaic, 'Hirschkampf' by J Vaic and two 'Pferdekoepfe' by J Vaic, 'Pragger' [as written] by H Figura; and one drawing 'Akt' by Veris. No further detail is given on the claim.
