Description:

Captured ship: St Antoine of Marseilles, otherwise Eagle (master Germain Boyer of Martigues).

History: a French merchant ship with a letter of marque (pink, 60 tons, 6 carriage guns, 4 swivel guns, 33 men), bound from Marseilles to Smyrna, laden with cloth, indigo, cochineal etc; taken on 18 January 1761 about 10 leagues off the island of Pantelleria, having thrown the cargo-papers and a bag of letters overboard following usual Marseilles instructions, by HMS Vestal (Samuel Hood commanding), and brought into Livorno [Leghorn].
