This series contains war-time and post-war atomic energy and atomic weapons research papers originating in various governmental and non-governmental bodies. These include the Directorate of Tube Alloys of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (records otherwise in DSIR) and later the Ministry of Supply; the MAUD Committee of the Ministry of Aircraft Production; scientists at ICI Limited and various UK universities; the British Commonwealth Scientific Office in Washington; and the Anglo-Canadian joint atomic energy project.

Subjects covered include scientific and technical developments, the staffing and structure of the various organizations, minutes and papers of the MAUD Committee and its sub-committees, reports of visits, research arrangements at UK universities, contracts and patents, supply of uranium and heavy water, Anglo-American relations, the Chalk River reactor site, post-war uses of atomic energy and reports on the German effort to utilise atomic energy.
