The Computer Aided Design Centre was established in 1969 at Cambridge to develop computer-aided design (CAD) systems for chemical, mechanical, electrical, electronic and civil engineering, building, construction and industrial design. The Centre was linked to Cambridge University and its objective was to encourage industry to make use of CAD.
