Description:

This series contains a small number of items relating to 19th century members of the Department. During this period staff numbers were small, and responsibilities were broad. Although a number of the staff had well-developed specialities, the department was not subdivided into sections. Henry Woodward, for example, although a specialist on fossil arthropods, published on many vertebrate and invertebrate groups.
