Catalogue description British Museum (Natural History): Department of Palaeontology: Early Members of Staff: Correspondence and Papers

This series contains a small number of items relating to 19th century members of the Department. During this period staff numbers were small, and responsibilities were broad. Although a number of the staff had well-developed specialities, the department was not subdivided into sections. Henry Woodward, for example, although a specialist on fossil arthropods, published on many vertebrate and invertebrate groups.

Papers of C D E Konig are held in both Mineralogy and Palaeontology manuscript collections, and some notes on fossil reptiles by G R Waterhouse are held in the Palaeontology Manuscripts, where there is also a large collection of the papers of A Smith Woodward.
