Raphael Jack SPECTOR: British. SPECTOR first came to notice in 1931 when he wrote to the Soviet Tass news agency seeking employment and in 1935, while working as a journalist for the 'Jewish Chronicle', was active in his local branch of the Communist Party. Observation during his World War II service in the army produced no evidence of subversive activity but after the war he was prevented from working as an interpreter with the Control Commission in Germany because of his communist background. He later worked for United Nations agencies |
